Best Indian food in Somerville
Jul. 24th, 2008 09:02 amFor something close to a year I've been telling anyone who'd listen that Guru on Broadway* was the best Indian food in town. It's a tiny narrow storefront with no chairs or tables and a takeout counter where three people can stand if they're friendly — a sort of place you'll fined by the dozen in London but is nearly unheard-of here. The menu is limited, usually four or five dishes and three or four sides on any given day — but clearly that's part of the secret to their quality, which is consistently outstanding. Try it; you'll be back for more.
But you don't have to take my word for it: what prompted me to finally write this is that Guru got some well deserved publicity recently, in the form of a Globe article by a reporter who's also clearly a fan.
* 1297 Broadway: halfway between Teele Square and Alewife Brook Parkway. A fire gutted the building next door several months ago, and their storefront is so narrow you can miss it entirely in the construction detritus, but it's there.
