I really do like sleeping with the window open when the weather is cooperative. It even feeds me tidbits of random intellectual stimulation. Such as wondering what evolutionary advantage do birds gain from singing their little hearts out at dawn?

You owe the earliness of this post to the particular enthusiasm with which they greeted the sun this morning around 5:50.

Oh well. I suppose it's just as well I get an early start:

  • Contact at least one temp agency, and schedule an interview. Held over once; don't let it be twice.
  • Go to WIND meeting. They're good for me, and I should never have let myself get out of the habit.
  • Review OmniFocus documentation, so I can start actually using the damned thing.
  • Review my Dice alerts and craigslist, and apply for at least one job I find there.
  • Make my work environment more workable, by closing at least seven of the nine browser windows I have open, and all but at most twelve of the roughly 200 tabs I have open, taking notes or bookmarking as needed.
  • Exercise!
I also have some more routine things to do today, of the sort I don't need prompting to remember (grocery shopping; pick up my mail at the UPS Store). Plus evening plans I don't really need to detail here. It should be a full day.

My car is in the garage if you want to borrow it for transport to WIND.

Yup. I wasn't planning to wake up and go running (around the time you posted this), but the sunlight woke me up and that seemed like a fine way to start a day. Good luck with yours!

Do the temp agency thing first, since it is the thing that you did not do on Monday or Tuesday. I find that if I fail to do something 3 days in a row, it means either I really do not want to do it, or there is some fundamental problem going on, so that would be a big red alert. It should not take you longer than 30 minutes to do it, maybe even 15. Some of the other things could take an infinite amount of time but will not have as much impact on your forward movement.

I was impressed with indeed.com for job hunting.

Which WIND meetings are you going to? I've been meaning to check them out for a while, so if the bunch of interviews I'm on this week don't come up with anything by the next one, I should go with you. :)

(btw, dice.com has been getting me ALL SORTS of contacts recently, including many principals, not just recruiters.)

Where can I find a copy of your resume?

Look for a (locked) post on this subject over the next couple days

That does look pretty useful. Are they fairly new? I've never heard of them before.

Last few years. They are the logical inheritors of flipdog.com, which was bought by (I think) Monster - and which stopped being any good shortly thereafter.

Dice is good as well.

You might want to throw a resume on LinkedIn and mark yourself available. Stuff does seem to come from that direction.

I went to one of those meetings in Wilmington. I was not super-impressed - but their approach is much more old-fashioned and laid back, and of course very general to employment, not narrowly for high tech.

Strangely, I got some of my best "how to high tech job search" info from The Career Center in Woburn, which is paid for by the state and federal government. They have lots of free resources as well.
