Diamond Age to be TV miniseries

The SciFi channel has announced that a six-hour miniseries of Diamond Age is in production, with Neal Stephenson writing the screenplay and George Clooney producing. I'm normally very cautious when I hear Hollywood is taking on a favorite book, but I think there's a pretty good chance this won't suck. Clooney is a genuinely smart guy with a good track record of getting serious work out of Hollywood intact. Stephenson has no experience as a screen writer, and that does worry me a little. But at least if it sucks it won't be some hack's doing.
