Emma Watson
Jun. 29th, 2016 11:33 amI've been noticing for several years that Emma Watson has grown up to become every bit as impressive an actual person as Hermione Grainger is a fictional one. She has used her fame to try to make the world a better place, especially in her role as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. I had somehow failed to see until just now her 2014 address launching UN Women's HeForShe Campaign. Well worth thirteen minutes of your time.
And if anyone still imagines--- as I myself have certainly been guilty of in the past--- that gender-equality is a settled matter, the briefest glance at the comments and the titles of many of the linked response videos should put an end to that delusion.

Он не говорит по русски, и не думаю, что ему здесь очень интересны комментарии от тех, кого он не знает лично.
На вопрос про равенство он уже ответил: "And if anyone still imagines--- as I myself have certainly been guilty of in the past--- that gender-equality is a settled matter, the briefest glance at the comments and the titles of many of the linked response videos should put an end to that delusion."

Date: 2016-06-30 03:07 pm (UTC)I don't mind any actual human commenting on my public posts. That said, I'd rather people include an English translation if they want to comment in some other language.

Date: 2016-06-30 03:16 pm (UTC)The atmosphere is not unfriendly to you personally -- it's unfriendly to your anti-feminist ideas. To that extent, most people have been very polite in explaining their point of view to you. It's up to you whether to listen to them or not or whether to take it personally or not. As far as your discussion with tandem_bike -- I admit I didn't even read most of that thread (sorry -- that's another thing about my LJ: I don't mind people going at it with each other, but I don't promise to read it all). I would say that the best thing to prevent such things is just not to reply at all. That's what I do when people are hostile to me in my LJ :).
You are welcome to comment/friend me whenever you feel like it again. Or not, if you don't feel comfortable with my rules.

Date: 2016-06-30 03:19 pm (UTC)Re: Emma Watson's interview -- I saw a small snippet of her beatboxing from this interview, but didn't realize the larger context, so I'm grateful for your post. You've also ignited my interest in Hamilton. I've heard of it before, of course, but never considered getting a cast recording and listening to it (although now it's unclear to me why I haven't: I've done that with many musicals before years prior to seeing them live :) ).
