"U2 is playing a show for 750 people this evening, roughly 1 km from where I live. Is that far enough away for it not to totally disrupt my evening?"

Even thought there are only 750 tickets, all of which have long since been given away by various radio stations (all up and down the East coast, I'm told), the MBTA is putting on extra trains and the latest rumor is that the city is planning on 20k people descending on Davis Square tonight.

For bonus points, I live on one of a small handful of streets anywhere near Davis where a resident's parking permit is not required.

Do you really need to ask? The answer of course is 'No.'

Is that a rhetorical question? (Honestly, can't tell. :) )

Me, I think Somerville (the city and the theatre) are stark raving bonkers for doing this, but hey. :)

It's not meant as a rhetorical question. I've never lived this distance from an event likely to draw such a crowd. I lived two blocks off Mem Drive for several 4ths of July and Heads of the Charles: that close to such an event, it was pretty easy to predict how like a zoo it would be. This distance? I don't really have any intuition. I'll know soon enough.

Your evening will be disrupted. I recommend either fleeing to higher ground, or going out and enjoying the warm evening and party atmosphere.
