So my English friends are all shocked — shocked, I tell you that i serve scones without clotted cream. A food I have seen exactly once in my life. But according to this article at joyofbaking.com, it is now possible to find clotted cream in some specialty stores in the US. Has anyone seen it locally?

Alternately (though I'm not really sure I want to undertake making it myself), does anyone know of a local source for unpasteurized cream?

There was a tea store in Exeter, NH that sold clotted cream, but that was many years ago.

I seem to recall they sell it at Star now. It's the sort of thing which you never know where they're going to put it. Like horseradish. It'll usually be in the same section as the creme fraiche. If the dairy section fails you, try the cold section (near the veggies) in a corner somewhere. It'll be in a glass jar.

I'd expect Cardullo's to carry clotted cream.

I'm not entirely sure whether you could make it using cream that had been chilled, stored, transported etc. Maybe you could: I've never made my own. If you find it, or make it, I'd love to know how you get on.

Woah! I followed the links out of curiosity at the bottom of joyofbaking and you can buy it from amazon.com.

No idea if it'd be any good or the real thing though, clotted cream is something we take very seriously in England!

I've seen clotted cream at Whole Foods.

I've definitely seen it at Whole Foods, and I think I may have seen it at Kickass Cupcakes (but I might be misremembering that one).
