Filky weather
Mar. 3rd, 2014 10:03 pmMaybe it's because my mental life's backing track has recently been featuring a lot of the filk songs of the late great Robert Lynn Asprin.* Which is of course not so much an explanation as moving of the question down the stack. At any rate — Last week, I happened to be at the River Street Whole Foods while the beer buyer was stocking the cooler. So I got to talking to him and bought some things on his recommendation. I didn't have very high expectations for one of them — I was fairly sure it was going to be one of those beers that beer snobs in general like but I don't. But I figured it was worth a shot. I tried it the other day, and it was just way too much for me. Even as an accompaniment to coconut curry. So I pulled out out of the fridge and set it on a counter in the pantry til I decide who to give it to. I just noticed it there while getting a cup of coffee, and decided who to give it to. The intended recipient is one of the few people on the planet who may be more fond of puns than I am. And immediately on deciding to give him the beer, a voice emerged in the back of my head:
* Generally in his own voice, often including (if I let them slip into the foreground) visuals of Bob at some Con or other almost 30 years ago, laying claim to the spotlight in some bar or hospitality suite.
Hoppy beer-day to you!
Hoppy beer-day to you!
Hoppy beer-day, Hoppy beer-day
Hoppy beer-day to you!
