I have a longer post in works which will perhaps make its way online this weekend, one of whose themes will be how welcome visitors are when you're in the hospital. But I don't want to wait that long to say what a wonderful time I just had visiting my friend Angie, who happened to be in town this week for one of the things her employer periodically sends her to MIT for. We spent close to three hours catching up on old times, talking about mutual friends, and just generally enjoying one-another's company. And I will go to sleep tonight feeling something like contentment for the first time in quite a while.

My friends are just the best.
