This is all covered now, by the amazing Sweettea. Option 1, with a fully fleshed out and entirely satisfactory contingency plan if there's a scheduling conflict — which he'll know for sure whether obtains or not by noon tomorrow.
Original post below the line:

I have tentatively arranged a ride home on Weds, 24 Feb. The person who has offered the ride cannot also be the person to carry my stuff in from their car, nor can they stick around for the necessary homecoming-day rearranging.

So I need to find someone who is up for that. My options would appear to be:

  1. In an ideal world, someone would say "Yeah, I can be at your place in Arlington from 12:30 til 14:30 to bring stuff in and do a little re-arranging.
  2. Second choice would be if any of you knows someone available for casual labor to whom $80 cash for a half-day's work* sounds good. If you know such a person, ask yourself honestly Are they reliable and punctual? If the answer is yes, please tell me about them. (In email to xelaATmit.edu, please.)
  3. Equally acceptable as #2 would be a friend for whom the only problem with #1 is the 12:30-14:30 timeslot. If there's a two hour window later in the day that would work for you, please let me know. I'll get an Uber home and we'll go from there.

If there are options I've missed, please let me know that too.

* Having done casual labor in my day, I pay for a minimum of four hours (including a 15-minite break on the clock). If I run out of work for them in less than four hours, so be it. (And $20/hr is the lease I'd expect anyone I'd actually want working for me to expect for casual labor.)

I cannot help. (With during the day, in a chorus competition that night.)

If you want to advertise on the town mailing list, send me the text you want forwarded. I'll post it.

Also, did you try the Senior Center, which administers programs for period in ttyl8r position? Or try the High School to see if there are student volunteer programs that might help?
