So, I was going to post more often. I haven't been — partly because my mental state's not great. Partly that often when I think of posting about something it's related to politics — or I see a connection to politics, anyway. And much as I've been trying to ignore the news, thinking about politics just makes me want to gnaw my arm off.

OTOH I've had some delight in my life in the past few weeks, and have failed to post about that either. I'll try to fix that over the next few days.

I came up with a phrase in my early 20s that I've always been rather proud of: "Joy shared is doubled; pain shared is halved." I just need to remember to keep that truth in mind, and work on applying it.

Had you read any of Spider Robinson's Callahan's Bar stories before coming up with that phrase? :-) I think it's the same modulo word order.

Short answer: Yes, but I'd forgotten — until you asked!

My initial reply to your question — written on my feet while thinking about the question and figuring out when certain memories had to be from — grew quite long But I think interesting enough to turn into its own freestanding post. So watch this space!
