I'm amused to find myself reading and posting to LJ while sitting in a medical exam room waiting for the doctor. It being less than two years since the last time I saw one of those absurd warnings to turn off cell phones lest they interfere with medical devices.

They still have them in some hospitals (Newton-Wellesley, for one).

Have you noticed it's increasingly difficult to find a pay phone? Everybody's expected to have a cell, these days.

Said absurd warning was recently included in a list of medical myths, if you like that kind of thing.

(Note the first comment on that article mentions another recent study showing slightly increased interference from newer phones)

Interesting and kind of scary to learn that cell phones actually can affect some medical equipment. IANAEE, but it seems to me grossly irresponsible not to be designing medical equipment with sufficient shielding to prevent normal environmental interference (which cell phones now have to be viewed as) from affecting it.
