BHCC is blocking outgoing ssh and imaps --- so I can check neither of my email accounts. Blarg! I know this sort of thing is commonplace on networks run by people who don't actually understand security. But I live a charmed life, and can't recall the last time I encountered it.

(Also --- does http://athena.dialup.mit.edu/ssh.html no longer work, or are they somehow blocking that too?)

That SSH client makes a connection over port 22, so it's being blocked the same way. You basically need a tunnel over a port they aren't blocking, unless they are blocking things by headers, which I doubt. UMass Boston had a similar system in place.

Oh --- I thought the way it worked was that the java terminal was showing me a terminal session on the remote host via https --- so I was sshing from the remote host to to --- well, to itself.
